Briska for macOS.
macOS 14.5 or later · Apple silicon · English-only transcription
Downloaded once. Then it's yours.
Cloud dictation downloads almost nothing, because the model lives on someone else's computer, and so does your voice. Briska brings the models to your Mac instead: three pieces to get started, two more only if you want them, and after that nothing needs the network.
About 3.2 GB in total for the three you start with, verified against a fingerprint as it arrives, and resumable if your connection drops midway. The last two are fetched only if you turn those features on in Settings; they are a few hundred megabytes between them, and you may never want either.
Requirements, and the honest limits.
- macOS 14.5 or later on an apple silicon Mac. The models are built for the Neural Engine and the Metal GPU, so Intel isn't supported — and the download carries no Intel code at all, so an Intel Mac won't open it rather than opening it and failing.
- English only. The speech model doesn't handle other languages, and we would rather say so here than have you find out after 3.2 GB of downloading.
- Accessibility permission to insert text where your cursor is. Without it Briska still works: it puts the finished text on your clipboard instead and tells you so.
- About 3.2 GB downloaded; allow 4 GB free. One download, then it's yours.
- Meeting notes are beta. Recording and summarising calls works, and it is the part still being shaped. Dictation is what we would stake the app on today.
Ready when you are.
An address, not an account, then the download. Nothing is sent now, and what does arrive is rare: a new version, or a change worth hearing from us first.
